2004 Monohull Open Report 26/27 July - 35 single handed & conventional spinnaker 2 handed dinghies attended GYGSC's Mono Hull open this weekend including a large fleet of Splash dinghies who also participated in some pre-world championship race training. The fleet was split into 2 starts with the first for single handers sailing a shorter beat than the second for the 2 handed boats, both fleets then sailed a triangular course before returning to their respective windward mark & sailing a sausage leg. Results for the splash fleet & also the Javelin fleet were then extracted from each start. Saturdays 3 back to back races were sailed in a South Easterly 3-4 in a moderate chop, James Large was the consistent winner in the splash fleet but Gary fryer took all 3 bullets on handicap sailing his RS300. In the two-man dinghies Mike Pickles/Richard Fisher were the overnight leaders in the Javelin fleet as well as on handicap. The wind had veered to the West & dropped to a shifty force 2-3 for Sundays 3 races, the previous days race winners continued to excel but Simon Barker won the second Splash fleet race & Sunday visitor Richard Fryer won the last single hander race on handicap. Other Sunday only contestants Ben & Veronica Falat won the first 2 double hander races & finished second in the last sailing their Fireball. The results with 1 discard were as
