B14 Travellers Trophy Notice of Race Hi I
hope you are going to join us at Great Yarmouth & Gorleston S.C. for our B14
TT event on Sunday the 4th of May. We are a small friendly club
located in the town of Gorleston on the coast of Norfolk just south of the river
mouth at Great Yarmouth. The club house is located on the promenade next to the
Pier Hotel at the North end of a 6 mile long sandy beach which is great for
families as well as for launching. We
have an excellent racing area which is located directly off the beach next to
the club to the South of the port & we sail at all states of the tide in all
but the most challenging sea conditions. All racing will take place from our
committee boat over windward/leeward courses with a downwind gate. The
TT event will be held alongside our Open Windward/Leeward Sprint Series, the B14
fleet will have its own start ahead of the handicap fleet. First start will be
no earlier than 10:30 with 4 races held back to back, the entry fee will be £15.
I must draw attention to the construction of a new Port taking place at Great
Yarmouth to the North of the river mouth & our racing area. There is an
exclusion zone in operation & under no account must any competitor breach
this, the Port Authority is our landlord! There
will be the usual day time catering but as we have no bar licence I will lay on
some local ale for Free! If your
tastes differ you can bring your own! If you want to drive up on the Saturday
let us know & we will make sure we are at the club so you can put your boat
in the dinghy park. There is plenty of B'n'B accommodation in Gorleston as well
as the Pier Hotel next to the club, there is limited ‘Very
Unofficial' camping possible in the aisles of the dinghy park. We also have
a limited amount of floor space back in Norwich. Best option for an evening out
is in Norwich, we will start a thread on the class association website to
discuss the options. Please use the thread to let us know if you are coming so
we know how many to cater for. Journey
time is approx 4 hours from the south coast, 3.5 hours from the Midlands 3 hours
from Whitstable, 2.5 hours from North London & 2 hours from Brightlingsea
& Grafham. See
our website at www.gygsc.cco.uk
for directions to the club & details of accommodation etc. Or contact me
Dick Roe at dick.roe@bt.com or on 07962 007176 for help & info. Regards
Dick & Kate B14 776
